Karen's Coaches...Cathy Venable a Tulsa, Oklahoma native, moved to New York City in 2003. Since then, Cathy has served as a pianist for the Broadway shows The Light in the Piazza, Wonderful Town (as rehearsal accompanist for Brooke Shields), Beauty and the Beast, The Apple Tree, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Les Miserables, Mary Poppins., the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular, and Casino Paradise on the Lincoln Center American Songbook Series. She has accompanied for the Yale Graduate Voice Department, Hartt School of Music, Salt Marsh Opera, Blue Hill Troupe, New York's singing policeman Daniel Rodriguez, and for the last 15 summers, Light Opera Oklahoma, where she met Teresa Buchholz. Before 2003, Cathy was Staff Accompanist for the University of Tulsa, pianist for the Tulsa Oratorio Chorus, Tulsa Philharmonic, Tulsa Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, and the Council Oak Chamber Ensemble. As a soprano soloist, Cathy performed Barber's Knoxville: Summer of 1915 and Beethoven's Ah, Perfido! with the Tulsa Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, Mozart's Vesperae Solennes de Confessore, Schubert's Magnificat, and Beethoven's Mass in C with the Tulsa Oratorio Chorus, and Handel's Messiah, Mendelssohn's Elijah, and Haydn's The Creation with the Boston Avenue Chancel Choir. In the musical theater world, Cathy's roles include Maria in The Sound of Music, Guenevere in Camelot, Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls, and Princess Winnifred in Once Upon a Mattress. Cathy is a graduate of Northwestern University and the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.
